Hear ye Hear ye cried the voices of old

puncture, cut, break up and fold                                                                                             Ice is better once it melts 

better if it were something else

if it had chosen

never to be frozen                                                                                                                     冰之凝，不若其釋也，又況不為冰乎                                                                             Did Buddha too embrace the Tao?

Did he too insist                                                                                                                      that we desist?                                                                                                                        That when you see a birth in mind                                                                                          be kind;

Inclined to what can be foreseen?                                                                                          Then bring the guillotine                                                                                                           to act one of the last scene...

Time to end the celebration                                                                                                      for the act of procreation                                                                                                         Let freedom ring                                                                                                                       Let voices sing

We light the last cocktail                                                                                                          and toast                                                                                                                                   that darkness will prevail.

    So the stupidest thing to do is to let go of the nuclear bomb. It is better to keep it as a threat.

  By now you have probably read about the decision in Florida to remove “Principles of Sociology” from the state’s general education core course options. We are grateful to our members in Florida and beyond who have been working hard to make the case for the value of sociology. ASA has also been working hard to advocate for our discipline in Florida and in other states facing the prospect of similar decisions. In advance of the final Florida decision, ASA submitted a public comment objecting to the proposal, joining in an effort undertaken by many local sociologists who shared deeply compelling arguments in writing and in person.
